Today's Map: WA Moves From "Safe" to "Leaning Democrat"

Posted Sep 08, 2008 at 7:14 PM by Maurice Berger

PollTrack observes that the race in Washington state appears to be tightening, not surprising given the closeness of statewide races in recent years. The last race for governor ended in weeks of recounts, with a few hundred votes separating the candidates at one point. A US Senate race in 2000 was also astonishing close. (That year, a recount was ordered in the US Senate race when the eventual winner Democrat Maria Cantwell held a 1,953-vote lead over Republican Sen. Slade Gorton.)
